Can anyone out there tell me what kind of experience they have had with accepting checks, money orders and pay pal. Also what do you think about accepting fax orders. Reason I am asking is, I plan to open a little shop and will be selling similar items on my site as well as catalogs. Just wonder how others are managing all this. Thanks

I accept mail orders on my site. I put a form on there when I did not have a merchant account and left it there after. I did not think I would ever get one but I did... so I waited about 10 days and when the check did not get returned, I put in the order to my supplier.
I also got a toll free number and got an order that way. I have not had any one ask about a fax order, and don't have anything on my site about it because my fax machine is hooked up to the house phone line and does not pick up automatically.
I still have Pay Pal on my site, and have received orders twice this week using it. Some people do prefer it I guess!

If you have a shop, I would definitely make sure you have a dedicated fax line with the ability to take orders that way. Just make sure the fax machine is in a secure area where not just anyone could easily pick up an order with someone's credit card information on it!
As to checks and mo's - as stated above - make sure they clear first.
I actually have quite a few business accounts where I send product and bill them after - but, again, these are established businesses. And I always have paperwork on file with them that they've approved the order. I'm much more leery of personal checks.

Thank you both for your input. I will consider what you have said. Have a great day all.
