I am having a bit of trouble posting a quote of some code in a post.
I have tried both the Quote and the Code boxes, but they usually leave out some text.

Here's 2 ways. Put in the entire code (or text) you want in quotes, highlight it all - then click on quote - and everything highlighted will be in quotes.
Another way is to type in the commands - I'm going to type in the commands here with spaces in them - remove the spaces and use them and they'll be the start and end to a quote:
[ quote ]
[ /quote ]
Hope this helps.

I thnk that's what I did, but it only took the last half of my quote.
The only way I could get the complete html code in, was to eliminate the first < symbol.
I will try the " " around everything next time.
Thanks

Jim,
If you're putting in coding, make sure to tick the box underneath that says "Disable HTML in this post" - maybe you had some conflict between the code and the BBcode on this site.

Jim,
You don't put quote marks "" around your text to quote them in the forum. The forum uses BBCode - a sort of pseudo-HTML tagging - to include special features and text styling in whatever you post.
There's a BBCode FAQ here: http://onlinemerchantforum.com/forum/faq.php?mode=bbcode
There's also a link to that FAQ page on the message posting box page - on the left, below the Emoticons. Hopefully that'll clarify things for you.

Should show correctly.
Great it does.
Thanks for your help.

Jim,
Yep, your Code and Quote blocks are showing up right - assume that's what you wanted there anyway.
Here's a couple more tips on using the BBCodes when posting:
There's a row of buttons above the posting text box - you can click these to insert the relevant BBCodes - click once to insert the opening BBCode, type or paste in your text, then click the same button again to insert the closing BBCode. Alternatively - type or paste your text, select it, click the BBCode button to insert the opening and closing BBCodes around the selected text.
You can also just type in the BBCodes as part of your text when posting, though that requires that you know what the relevant BBCodes are in the first place - the BBCode FAQ link will help you there.
There's also a shortcut if you want to Quote the whole of someone elses post to which you're replying. You can do this via the Quote button that appears at the top right of every post on the forum - click that and you'll be taken to the posting page for entering your reply, with the post you're replying to already inserted as a Quote.

I new to this... just wanted to try something and see if it would work.
Yep it did... now I know how to add the Quote. You guys had me totally confused (which isn't hard to do :D ) with all that terminology. I just hi-lited the portion of the post I wanted to add, CTRL-C, clicked Reply, then Quote, CTRL-V & Quote again.
Also, I was thinking, maybe I should have shortened my forum name instead of using my full real name... can I change it??

Click on Profile and it will take you to your section with all your particulars and try it. Let us know if it works, cos I have never tried it. LOL

Hi Christine... already tried that and unable to change it there. Not a big deal... we can leave it.

If you go to the very top of the Forum screen there's an Icon menu option for profile. Click it and you can change most anything but you can't change your name. I tried.
