I had a real loser send me an email this week. I received an email from somebody telling me he received chocolates as a wedding gift from my site and there was a long black hair inside the chocolates wrapped around the chocolates. Then he said it was up to me what I wanted to do to keep a happy customer.
At first I believed him and asked him if he could tell me who purchased the chocolates so I could track down what product it was and get back to the chocolatier for replacement or refund.
So he answers like he is really mad saying he doesn't know who bought it that it was on the table of gifts and gave me his wifes parents names. He says he was so disgusted with it that he threw the entire thing away but knows there was a sticker on it that said IndulgeINChocolate.
I checked those names and guess what - no such order. So I asked him if he could tell me the wedding date so I could get an idea of the dates to check. He sends me an image of the chocolate truffles and said that was what he received except his has the hair in it.
So now I have the product. And wouldn't you know it. I did not sell that particular item since July. And that order was an anniversary gift for somebody. So now I know he is full of it.
Anyway, I called the chocolatier that I get that product from and explain what is going on. I wanted to check his records in case I did have an order that I may have missed for some reason. He said he didn't have any record of it. Then he also tells me he doesn't put stickers on with IndulgeInChocolate on the product either.
We both knew it was a scam, but the chocolatier suggested we just send him a box of truffles just to shut him up. So I told the scammer that we did not believe it was from us because we didn't sell one of those products recently but we would be willing to send a replacement box of chocolates.
So now the customer is really happy and says he will be buying from us in the future. I am not sure though I want a customer that does something like this. But if for some reason those same truffles were purchased somewhere else and he was mistaken about where they were purchased, then we have a satisfied customer.
I guess I will have to wait and see.
