I was wondering what you all do about requests you get that have already added your site, but are not relevant in content. I get lots of requests from drug companies & gambling sites, and they have already put my link up. Do you ask them to remove your link?

Thanks!

Delete them. You don't have time for this. You've got to get busy knitting those shawls!

This happens all the time. I just delete the email request. I don't answer it and I don't ask for them to remove me. I have had some really bad sites (adult) ask for an exchange, just deleted the email.
I cannot control those that link to me, I do control what I link to.

The more inbound links you have the better. The search engines like it.

So don't worry about them, it won't hurt you. Now here is the fun thing, watch if any traffic comes from them and do they purchase from your store?

If so, you might consider putting them in a Misc. themed link page. I personally won't trade links with adult, gambling, hate, questionable sites.

And I believe My STORE might be questionable to some (just kidding).

So, just ignore them and don't worry about it.

I turn down more than 50% of the requests I get for link exchanges. If they are pharmaceutical or gambling, I just delete them. If they are someone I'd trade with if they made changes, I might send them an email telling them why I've turned them down. (Always do that if they're a SOL store - and then I make sure they know about the forum too).

Thanks so much, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't hurt me to have my link on something I wouldn't link to myself.

Okay, gotta go knit now
