I have a strong suspicion that someone within SOL is selling our details to other companies. Since I purchased a stores online site I have received numerous spam emails and now also physical junk mail from companies that have somehow got hold of my details.

I am sure that these companies have received my details as a result of the Stores Online application because they are addressed to "Gabrielle and Ron", the other person that I bought the sites with. Why?:

- I have never done anything with Ron prior to this purchase so there is nothing to link me to Ron other than SOL.
- Our names are not listed on any of the websites.
- The SOL purchase was paid for with my own personal credit card, my own personal email address was given and my own home address was given and that's where the spam addressed to "Gabrielle and Ron" is appearing. Ron doesn't live with me, nor do we share the same email address so again it is only the SOL application linking Ron to those addresses.
- Anything I arranged after the SOL purchase (such as gateways etc) has only been done in my own name and not Ron's.
- If it were ordinary spam email and they found my address from a forum like this for example, there is no way that the spammers could have known to also include the name "Ron" on the email.
- The one and only place where "Gabrielle and Ron" has ever been recorded is on the original SOL "Business to Business Order Form"

The latest junk mail is from "The Nuova Tech Society" in Las Vegas. Did anyone else receive this?

Did you possibly list both names when you registered the domain name?

No - the domain is in my name only as is the business name and everything else. We are not actually building the websites together. We merely purchased the SOL package together to reduce costs but we effectively have 3 sites each and are both working independently of the other.

SoL expect you to appreciate the thoughtfulness of their sending these wonderfully experienced and highly motivated people to help you achieve success. They have spent years cultivating these affiliates just so that you can take advantage of all their years of gathering knowledge which they are willing to impart to you.

At least the above is what they hope you will think.

I don't whether your post is serious or not! ... however Stores Online stated that they would never pass my details onto third parties. Just as we would respect the privacy of the customers that come to our sites I would expect the same of Stores Online.

Let me entertain you with some quotes from these so called 'experienced and highly motivated people' from the latest junk mail:

after I received these secrets, I won every time I gambled ... the society's secrets armed me with the power to win

Gabrielle and Ron, you'd be amazed to know just who these particular world-renown members were who chose you! But, alas, it's a secret society ... and their identities must remain anonymous."

The above was the clue to my sense of humour. Sorry if you thought I was serious. These types of emails have taught me to hit the delete button very quickly. And I do agree that SoL is obviously the only source they could have come from but the costs involved in proving it are too huge to comtemplate.

That's fine - I just wasn't sure. Too funny!

Gabi,

This is very interesting. Did this just happen recently? I bought my stores almost a year ago, along with my friend. Her name is Jean but my name went first on the application. When she opened her first Links4Trade account, they had her name as Teresa.

We recently cancelled our Links4Trade accounts and since then we have both been receiving Spam emails. Coincidentially, Jean is getting them with "Hi Teresa".....the only people who connect us both are SOL and L4T.

It is my opinion that it's Links4Trade that have given our email addresses out because we cancelled our accounts. Do you have L4T too ?

Yes I do have Links 4 Trade actually. I bought my store in May last year but the spam emails and now physical mails to my home address have been happening over the last 3 months.

I opened my Links4Trade account in my name only however when I initially purchased the SOL sites, L4T was part of SOL's special bundle ... so it may well be the case that when SOL make a sale, they pass the exact details from the "Business to Business Order Form" onto L4T, who then pass it onto to any Tom, Dick or Harry.

Gabrielle,

They indeed do put us on some sort of 'sucker' list. And those lists DO exist. Just block them with a spam button, or save all the junk mail, bundle it up and put it in their return envelopes and send it all back to them. If they start calling tho, just call SOL and tell them NOT to have their associates call you and that you are on the NO CALL lists. They took me off, and i dont get the calls or the junk anymore :P

Funny that IA doesn't pay ANY attention to no call lists, isn't it? But when I mentioned something to them, he told me they are NOT telemarketers and he was NOT trying to sell me anything - excuse me? What the heck was he trying to do?

I think everyone who is on the do not call list that gets calls from them should start reporting them - let's see how fast we can take them down?

My friend answers my phone during the day and often gets calls to optimize my website, I have asked her to get their number in future because in the past she has been so busy laughing she has forgotten to find out who they are. One day I may be able to wind them up and have a laugh myself.

Ok I am ruling out the L4T theory now. Oddly enough, I visited my mother today who happened to mention that she received an odd letter from The Nuova Tech Society in Las Vegas and was trying to work out how they got her details. It was the exact same letter I received and it was mailed on the same date. My mother attended the first SOL workshop with me. She didn't purchase a package from them like I did, so there is nothing linking her to Links4Trade at all. She did however complete the mandatory SOL workshop registration form .... so I think it just SOL passing on our details.

so I think it just SOL passing on our details.

Might that be the same thing as selling our mailing lists?

Absolutely ... I just believe it is SOL selling it rather than L4T.

Yep, it's SOL - no doubt in my mind - shoot - it's SOL that gets PMI or EMS or whatever they currently are called - to call immediately after the sale and claim they're another company - and collect more money from us for THAT service. I mean - they even send us a gift LOL.
