Bruce, all you need to do to see any and all press releases from Imergent is go to their home page- www.imergentinc.com
Their press release for launching storesonlinepro was 3/6. The following quote bothers me:
quote]S.O. Pro is replacing
the company’s original StoresOnline software. iMergent will support all software versions and
existing merchants have been invited to request an upgrade.[/quote]
My feeling is that the customer support people will become WORSE when there are questions involving the original version - if that's even possible, because all new buyers will only have the option of pro.
An interesting article also from stocklemon:
http://www.stocklemon.com/articles/03_01_05.html
which isn't very nice to Imergent.

Would somebody with the new so called "Pro version" please check if this version has the ability as the "old Version" to customize ?
Thank you very much in advance :-)

Hi Matt, I have just started building a site using pro. What customisation are you referring to? so that I can check for you. So far I have found a lot more options on how to change colour schemes, there are not many templates, but you can change a lot of things on them and you can have each page different colour scheme if you want. Hope this helps.

My fear on that statement is that there will be a fee to upgrade.....

Sylvie,
Can you get into customization on those templates like we can now? To change things like pictures in the template you don't like, etc? To add things like I did to enlarge all pics on my product pages?
From what I've heard, we won't have any access to that type of customization any more with pro.

In the old version, the html customization can be found at:
Storesfront  Pages  Design  Customize
Once you click on that - a long page of further possibilities opens.
If somebody has the time and the "Pro Version" - please let me know :-)

I need to look deeper into it , so far I have discovered you can change fonts, a lot more choices in them. you can also work either in back office or directly onto the page where you can move elements the same way as with a Publisher program or Word. You can alter all parts of the template for colour. Templates that have images already you can change. product pictures are clickable to " make bigger", however it stays the same size, haven't figured out how to have the size bigger. I am sure I have a lot more to discover and will probably need help from you guys. And all elements have HTML window. Hope this helps

I have saved the "scheme" page where a lot of the customisation is possible onto a word document. Can I email it to the forum so you can see it? and if so what is email adresse?

You can't email it to the forum but if you can get the html of the page you can post it here and we can convert it.

Based on a real brief review I just made of PRO, it appears that a fair amoun of functionality has been added to the back end and a lot of what remains from 4.0 is much easier to navigate and modify.
HOWEVER, I could not find anywhere that would allow "deep customization". By that i mean,on 4.0 for example, if you did not like the layout of the navbar, you could download to an HTML editor, modify, and upload as "navigation.html". The ability to do this appears to be gone. While I agree with it from a programming consistency and reliability standpoint, it certainly will not give us the same level of flexibility as before.
Also, and this a big one, I could not find anywhere to add a footer. Its got to be there, or there has to be a way, but i coudlnt figure out it in the couple minutes i spent looking at it.
Finally, the templates selection, while more professional than before, is VERY limited. Hopefully more will be added

Thanks for that assessment, Todd. That's kind of what I've been hearing - and while I think it's great to have new features and to make some things easier, I hate thinking that some customization (any customization) is being lost.
Someone else told me that the only way they found to put in a footer was to put it in to each page individually.

that alone wouldn't work Linda.
The picture would need to be uploaded in your Storesfront / uploads folder - and after published enter the link to the .jpg here

Okay, I'm in there checking it out.
When you double click on a page to open the page edit window you can go to the advanced tab and put in some customization.
It says:
This tab allows you to enter material within the HTML <head></head> tags of the page. You may wish to create styles, enter JavaScript, or provide references to other Stylesheets on the web.
Within the Head field, enter the information you wish to be found between the HTML <head></head> tags of your page.
For example, if you wish to add JavaScript, within the Head field you would type something similar to "<script>alert("content");</script>"
Be selective in the information you enter into the Head field. Unless you are familiar with Web Page design and what information is usually found between the HTML <head></head> tags of the page, you may cause functional as well as aesthetic issues.

I just checked and it looks like you can do it with a background
Select the Pages menu.
Click the Backgrounds submenu.
Click the Add button in the lower left-hand corner.
In the Edit submenu you give the background a name and more.
Next, click the Elements submenu. Here you will add elements to the background, such as text, headings, products, etc.
Now, select the Meta submenu. This submenu allows you to add information that is accessed by search engines.
Finally, select the Advanced submenu. This submenu allows you to enter material within the HTML tags of the page to which the background is applied. You may wish to create styles, enter javascript, or provide references to other Style Sheets on the web.

Well...I have a MAJOR site (backed by a $3.5 mil inventory) that is going up in the next month and I think I may have to put it in 4.0. As much as i would like to use the new templates and make use of the google maps etc... i really need that ability to apply html customization.
Any word if this is just the beta release? Hopefully it is.
