I was in here reading some of these success stories. I looked at my total visitors and it totals 3770 since the end of May which is when I started this website. I have made 15 sales online, and a ton offline. I've done a couple of festivals and my sunglasses sold like hot cakes at these places. This has helped to build revenue. Just wondering, has anybody become self-employed doing this?

Yes, some of us, including me, have. It can be done!

Yep,

This is my main source of income. I do keep a Friday / Saturday karaoke show (still self employed) but that's because it's something I like to do not something I have to do.

The goal I'm working towards now is replacing Marsha's income so she can be self employed as well.

what needs to be added - I couldn't work anywhere else - only work@home possible - so fortunately the word - "nocando" is not in our dictionary anymore :!: :)

yep, officially self emplyed for 18 months now. But, it took me 2+years of work on my business to get tot hat point. If you want it bad enough and put in the time and money, it will happen

i could never go back to an office job. If my sites ever tanked, i would be back to waiting tables and bartending and living in a beach bungalow with 10 of my closest friends (and i'd probably be just as content).

I've been self employed for 14 years. Before I started the websites I had my own therapy office, which I still do on a limited basis.

The websites have been the main source of income for the last several years.

Hello All,

I just wanted to let you all know, that I have finally resigned from my full time job as Lead Systems Engineer to dedicate myself completely to my websites. As the sales and the work still required was demanding it and I didnot want my full time job holding the business down in terms of growth.

I have achieved an income level that is equal or more than my regular job on a weekly basis. The websites have been up for 8 months now and I have a lot to do still.

I know it will only get better from here.... So it does work. It is possible.

I hope this will act as a motivation for many and everyone will put that extra effort required to make it big. AS IT IS VERY POSSIBLE..

Best Wishes to All.

Wish me good luck too, for this new phase in my life.

Hope is Everything!

These stories sure do help to boost my confidence. My store has been up for months now and nothing... I keep working at it though. How did you guys do this.. other than optimizing.. I have someone helping me with that.. Karenmac I believe... what I am asking is ... what else did you do? Pay per click?, newspaper ads? or what?

I want what you have..... LOL

How else do I get it?

Good Question Connie.
We just had a super time with Beth, who came to visit us and we talked about the difference between 4 years ago, when we joined this forum and now.
When we joined this forum, we had a lot of arguments, reasonings, struggles , meant in the most positiv way, we communicated. Each one of us lost or won a single argument, but all of it was meant forward, we learned from each other.
That is something, I am missing today.
Sure, considering the fast growth, 4 years of experience, especially in the internet is a very long time, some things might have been way easier - the competition was way less, than it is now, but - there was no 100% working recipe for success then and there is no 100% recipe now. That's where the challenge is. The internet for merchants changes almost daily.
Imho it's the trial and error approach, allowing to make mistakes and learning from it. For making mistakes, one needs one thing - get active and not looking like a deer into the headlights, meaning getting rid of being too scared to try, knowing there is no silver bullet fitting in everybodies "gun".

Wow,

I don't even remember writing that post Matt - it was two years ago. I suppose I should update.

Karen did help me a lot and so did some others.

My sites are doing well now. Of course I am always wanting more but they sure have moved ahead. Time and constant work was the answer and will be the way I continue to get more of what I am after.

Once you come into my age, you'll understand Connie - lol = my reply to a 2 year old post. It shows how far you've come - congrats to you :-)

Thanks Matt,

I don't know what your age is but mine is starting to climb up there. I'm going to keep running faster than it is though so it doesn't catch me. :D

It was funny to read what I wrote 2 years ago. Some posts from the past seem kinda silly but it does reflect how far someone can come.

Thanks for reviving it and giving me a chance to reflect back.
